Life is boring, and we like it that way.

Not too many updates here at FullPlateManor.  Life is boring, which is just how we like it.  We’re making plans for summer already, which has me absolutely THRILLED.  I love summer!  Since I work evenings, I don’t get to see the school age kids during the day as much as I would like to.  I volunteer at their school, and we eat lunch together once a week (yay for getting to sit at the lunch table with them while they still think I’m cool!).  Other than helping them with their homework though, we don’t get to do a whole heck of a lot of fun stuff together during the week.  Weekends are the fun times.

That all changes during the summer.  We play outside.  We swim everyday.  We ride bikes, and we just hang together.  Then, I go to work while they’re winding down.  We’re also planning to go out west to see good friends again.  Yay for fun summer vacations!  ShyGuy is a little bummed that he won’t get to be on the swim team this year.  He’s still only reading at a level two, so he has qualified for summer school.  We need to pump up those reading skills.  He knows all 26 letters of the alphabet now (he knew two when he came here).  He also knows all the sounds the letters make and he can sound out words, but he is still SO slow when he reads.  He gets frustrated easily, and he is called ShyGuy for a reason.  Sometimes, he just freezes when he gets nervous and you can’t tell if he doesn’t know the answer or if he’s just too shy to speak.  So, he needs summer school.  It will be good for him.  He has a lot of time left to dominate in the pool.  We’ll get there eventually.

Bubbly is still rockin’ in the Early Childhood program at school.  She’ll take the summer off, which I’m extremely nervous about.  Transition and Bubbly aren’t friends.  I’m hoping for a better summer for her than the last one, because that’s what it’s all about, making slow progress.  She’s doing it.  I just want her to be happy.

In other news, GigantoBaby turned FIVE last week, so I’ll post pics soon.  We went to (drum roll please)…

Chuck E. Cheese.

  1. I’m a HUGE fan of Boring. I miss Boring! I’m thinking heading East this summer/fall/winter/anytime might be fun, too. Maybe SouthEast. Just sayin’!Efia is right about the same place as ShyGuy with reading. And she gets that frozen look of terror too. I still can’t quite convince her that it is okay to not know the answer or how to do something. But progress is progress, even when it’s slow! Give ShyGuy a High Five from me. Happy Birthday, GigantoBaby!
