I have so many things, and tiny little people to be thankful for this day. But, I do have to say, of all the moments I have to be thankful for this year, this keeps floating through my mind’s eye as I go about my day. Last year at this time, we had just arrived home with our Dolly. For those of you who don’t know, Dolly was given a terminal prognosis when she arrived home. We weren’t expecting that. We knew there were a lot of unknowns that came with her broken little heart, but we weren’t expecting terminal. We were devastated. It is THIS moment when I decided to fight for her. To fight with every thing I had.
She had been home for about a week. Prior to this, she hadn’t moved. She couldn’t sit steadily. She screamed when we tried to get her to bear weight on her little legs. She was nearly TWO YEARS OLD. Unreal. She was so determined though. It took her one week to figure out how to get to the toy she wanted so badly. Any baby who could figure that out in a week can most assuredly deserved a mom to FIGHT for her.
I shot this video just for you all today. Click on her name below to access it.
DOLLY — One Year Later.
Oh what a difference a year makes.
Today, on this day of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for every child who gets what Dolly got…a mom and a dad to fight for everything she deserves, everything she earned by fighting to survive for two long years. I am so thankful to get to say that I witnessed a miracle. I’m praying for the children out there who are waiting for that.
who has so much to be thankful for. So much.
