This is my second trip to China, and the first time, I WAY overpacked. This time, I committed to packing only what I needed. There was nothing worse than hauling crap I did NOT need through an airport while toting a sick toddler. Lesson learned the hard way last time. So, I established the packing list, and then I stuck to it.
- Three pairs of shorts
- Two pairs of capris
- One pair of casual pants or jeans
- One skirt
- Three pairs of PJs
- One bathing suit
- One maxi dress
- Three lightweight sweaters
- Four dresses
- 10 casual shirts
- 10 pairs of underwear
- 4 bras
- One cross body bag/diaper bag
- Four pairs of shoes: 2 flats, 1 flip flop, 1 tennis shoe
- One Ergo Baby Carrier
I modified the list, obviously for ResponsiBoy and Poppy, but the quantities stayed mostly the same. I trolled about twenty different packing videos on YouTube. The key seemed to be rolling the clothes rather then folding them. Along with that, people seemed to unzip the lining of the suitcase. Alrighty.
I wedged my tennis shoes between the handles of the suitcase and then I re-zipped the lining. Then, I started shoving the rolled clothes EVERYWHERE they could be wedged in.
I’m digging these comfortable folding flats from Target. They saved me a ton of space.
I am high maintenance, so I do manage to fit in travel hair accessories.
I packed our liquids into two quart size bags. I do pack a concentrated laundry soap because we do wash small things in the sink and we do have our clothes washed halfway through the trip.
I save space wherever I can by shoving things inside of other things. Like hair accessories into a zippy cup.
When all that is done, I had to add something special to ResponsiBoy’s bag. If you’ve read this blog before, you know of my love for the Disney movie Up. ResponsiBoy is joining the club.
Because, the adventure, it awaits.
