Beijing Baby!

ResponsiBoy, FullPlateGrandpa and I made it to Beijing!  I didn’t really doubt how awesome a traveler ResponsiBoy would be, but he exceeded my expectations.  Because the personal entertainment system on the plane was WAY too exciting for his poor TV/electronics-restricted self, I think he slept a total of abut 15 minutes.  That means that when we arrived, he had been awake for 24 hours.  He still managed to wait in line for the cab, endure a 45 minute ride to our hotel (the cabbie got a little lost) and then listen to, and heed, my speech about jet lag that involves a cure of not going to bed until the local time.  It’s 9pm here now.  He is sound asleep.  Hopefully, he’ll get a good night of sleep and be ready for tomorrow’s adventures.

One of today’s adventures involved eating this slightly funky looking fruit.  He wasn’t too sure about it.

Beijing Day 1

In an attempt to keep ourselves awake, we took a walk after we checked into our hotel.  We discovered that the area of Beijing that people have told me about before, called the Night Market.

Beijing Day 1-4

While I’m not brave enough to eat street food, I sure did enjoy photographing it all.

Beijing Day 1-3

Tomorrow we’ll take a nice long cab ride out to Poppy’s foster home.  And, we’ll get to squeeze her for the first time!!!  I absolutely can’t wait!!!

–FullPlateMom, who likely won’t sleep too much tonight.  She’s like a kid on Christmas.
